Self-evaluation on Plagiarism 1 and 2


a) What is plagiarism? Plagiarism is a form of cheating, this is occurred when somebody quotes or borrowing and someone’s idea and thought without giving proper credits to the author
b) Did you learn the concept of plagiarism in your country? Yes. But it was not emphasize the consequences, and we did not educated to avoid plagiarism nor given the differences between plagiarism and the right order to cite a source. What were your experiences regarding plagiarism in your own country? Did or didn’t you find any differences in the concept of plagiarism between your country and the U. S. A.? How? I had an experience of plagiarism, this is due because of my laziness as a student, but at that time I was not aware nor afraid to the consequences being caught of doing plagiarism ,because I know that plagiarism is a common among students, and I guest a lot of students have confusion how to cite or borrow someone ideas.
c) When and where did you learn plagiarism? I learned about plagiarism last year, when I had to write a history paper.
d) Why do you think students plagiarize?
I guest the main issues for international students committed plagiarism is due to their lack of understanding of plagiarism
e) To prevent from plagiarizing others’ ideas in individual papers, what should you do? When I am borrowing and idea, thoughts or words, I should quote the source properly and giving them credit.
f) What do your professors need to do to help you and your classmates?

I guess it will be useful for me and my classmate to practicing more the ideas of plagiarism with the University of Indiana’s questionnaire. I am really glad that today I learned about the University of Indiana’s questionnaire, so that I know how to differentiate between what is plagiarism and what is not.
